Beehive Distilling Gin
Developed by gin’thusiats Matt Aller, Chris Barlow and Erik Ostling – Beehive has been distilling, bottling and labeling under one roof in Salt Lake City, Utah since last year (2014). The collective 3’s background in creative is evident, with the slick branding and associative press fodder, but by all accounts [as I’ve not had the pleasure] the Jack Rabbit gin is a product with a deep love for juniper and an “absurd amount of botanicals”. Furthermore, what also makes it ‘special’ is internet sources state it could be the first gin to be distilled in Utah state in over 100 years – legally that is!
Personally though, I’m salivating for the Barrel-Reserve barrel-aged gin. Kept in French oak barrels for 8 months, which had previously stored chardonnay and are charred by a flame throwing blow torch, the outcome is a sipping gin, with, it is said “hints of honey, butter and vanilla!”
If you happen to be in Utah and heading back this way, pick me up a bottle!
